STRUCTURAL FORENSICS
We evaluate existing buildings and other structures to provide our clients with options for subjects such as expected building performance, and ability to accept change of use or occupancy.
Our services include feasibility studies of proposed changes to existing buildings, concept design for new structures, repair and retrofit design of existing structures, investigation of serviceability issues and evaluation of existing facilities.
In each case we provide well-written and easily understood evaluation report that meet our clients’ needs.
For those instances where an existing structure requires repair and retrofit, we provide full design, documentation, and construction phase services
DELEGATED DESIGN
“Delegated Design” is the means by which Structural Engineer of Record passes design responsibility for certain details, elements or systems to the Contractor. It provides flexibility so that proprietary materials and components can be incorporated into the project without the need to complete multiple, detailed design options in the construction contract documents. In addition, delegated design allows the Contractor to modify certain aspects of the design to use their preferred means and methods.
Strategically allowing the Contractor to design certain aspects of the project can reduce cost and risk by facilitating the use of proprietary products.
Preparing a delegated design submittal requires a deep understanding of the system in which the delegated design element is to be incorporated. In addition, the design must be clearly communicated to the Structural Engineer of Record and the Contractor through prepared calculations and working drawings.
P&T Engineering can prepare delegated design submittals for a variety of structural components, including steel structures connection design, steel and wooden stairs and rails, steel joists, trusses and metal deck, dunnage, steel and aluminum louvers and decorative panels, and ect.
